Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Maya was born and works in Varna, Bulgaria. She is a free-lance visual artist and critic of contemporary art. She has a PhD in Fine Arts and Art History from the National Academy of Art – Sofia, Bulgaria. She is Co-director of the Videoholica Team and member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
About Maya Manolova
The artist creates watercolor paintings inspired by femininity as a dynamic interaction of various biological and cultural factors. Passionate about jazz, classical music and tribal fusion dance, Maya loves to explore the bonding between performer, their instrument and the sound & motion as essence of improvisation. Another big theme interprets the sexual aspect of femininity as a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles generally associated with women. The whiplash lines, recalling Art nouveau are gently integrated with some impressionist strokes and different ethno - Afro, Indian and Japanese ornamentation. Flat use of water colors together with gouache, gives the works expressive, colorful and decorative appearance.
